Makkah Alliance orders practical implementation of collective defence commitments
At an emergency meeting in Riyadh, the three founders approved immediate practical implementation of their collective-defence commitments and measures to provide agreed military forces and capabilities for rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia. The Committee also appointed Lt Gen (retd) Nauman Mahmood as Secretary-General for a three-year term.
